MusicVideoMonday: Stars

Our good friend Qwerty has this cousin, Amy Millan, who is really super cool. Seriously. As well as having an amazing soul career (she was nominated for a Juno this year) and recording with Broken Social Scene (a band which is amazing as well) she is in one of our favorite bands, Stars.

Now, Stars is not one of our favorites just because of the small "degree of separation" aspect of it (although that is fun), they earned their status just by being awesome. If you've never heard of them, check out their Myspace or Facebook page or search for them on Youtube.

Undertow, One More Night and The Night Stars Here are in my top 5, but a new album is going to be released this month, so that may change. Mark your calendars, The Five Ghosts is out June 22.

It's Lissy's birthday today......HAPPY BIRTHDAY LISSY!!!!!! It's her last year in her 20's.....29 forever!

We are taking Lissy to the Sweet Tease Burlesque Show tonight......watching girls dance and strip down to pasties and panties....what could be a better b-day present?!

So, if you are on Quadra tonight...buy a ticket and come on done to the Legion and say "hi" to the birthday girl!

Ha! Almost forgot again! Yeesh.

We made it this morning, but until Kim reminded me of it a few minutes ago, I was on the verge of completely forgetting to put up the playlist. Is it possible to develop Alzheimer's at age 28? (I'm 29 starting tomorrow. So really, that was probably my last chance to say I was 28, therefore I took it. (And then took it again)) Cuz seriously, I think I am.

Actually, a friend of mine turned me onto these fantasy novels by Robin Hobb, and because of them, any chance I get to read, I do, which cuts into blogging time and also my memory, apparently. If you like fantasy novels. Check her out. Robin Hobb  Start with the Farseer trilogy and move on from there.

Anywho, about the music. It's all covers, because really, what is funner than finding a really good cover of your favorite song, or a really good cover of a song you hate? (well... many things, actually. If you thought "nothing" to that question then you are much to lame to hang out with my Awesome. You may depart...) No, covers are fun. I love these versions of Hot in Herre and Whatever You Like. There is something I find entertaining about taking a rap/hiphop song and getting a folky, sweet voiced, girl to sing it. Maybe it's because I feel less retarded singing to it. Hopefully you do to.

It's a gloomy Monday and we are home from work feeling tired and dirty. After all, we did clean 5 toilets each today and 1 urinal.....yuck. Housekeeping makes us feel kind of weird leaving our own houses dirty. So... who wants to clean our houses?

We realized that when other blogs put up two videos, we only watch the first one. Therefore, we've decided not to torture you with 2 videos a week anymore (unless you like it.....). Aren't we nice to you? You love us.

The band that we chose for today is called Current Swell they are a super cute bunch of surfer boys (which I love) from Victoria, BC. Lissy thinks it looks like a Tim Hortons coffee commercial, but I just love the fact that you can see Tofino in the vid (and that they are a bunch of cute surfer boys... did I say that already?).

Well... obviously we didn't get to the playlist. Nor have I changed the song of the day in a while. Kim's internet is still out, I blame her.

In keeping with the theme of Late, the videos will be late too, because Kim and I are working. Yes, working, I know. After years and years and years and years of being SAHM's, we decided to get summer jobs... together. Nothing glamorous, of course, but our roles as servants for the last few years sorta trained us well for the job.
