Perfect Pairings: Shit Glued to Other Shit and some other things

Its a bit quiet around here today.... Lissy is at home with a bad cold, I'm lonely but happy she kept her plague ridden self at home. Nicely for her though, both rotten children went to school AND her husband was working, so she got the whole house to herself!!

For today's 1st Perfect Pairing, I have chosen my friend Sarah's favorite crafting; Shit Glued to Other Shit.  She threatens often to bring in shit she wants to glue for us to sell here in the store... Maybe if she meant more of this type of thing and not rocks glued to sticks, we would be more pumped on it.

I know what everyone is going to think with this next one.... Couples tattoos? Really Mandy?? Really? REALLY???  Yes, I do mean it.  I think they are fun if done right also they don't have to all stupid and all "We love each other forever and ever and ever"
Friends can have matching tattoos, so can siblings, so all of you nay sayers can beat it :)
~2~

Lastly, I'm gonna totally phone this one in.  Here.  Dudes and Kitties.  I like both of those things.

Nailed It!

I know this is super hard for all of you, our loyal supporters to hear, but Lissy and I are sometimes crap at things.  You gasped right then didn't you? I heard it, so don't lie!
Anywhoodle, Liss and I tried to be awesome and paint our nails in fun manners and diligently followed the tutorial. For the most part anyways.....  This is what we attempted.

Lovely right? Totally adorable, and looks like your nails practically paint themselves no?  No is exactly right.  Sigh, it was a touch sloppy, a bit smelly and no where near as rad as pictured.....  Speaking of pictures, check out how we did and remember; Judge not lest we do this to you. Forcibly.

Our Colour Selection
Lissy's Masterpieces!
Mandy's sweet sweet job!

Three things we learned from this?
1. Refrain from having kids or dogs near you at any point.  Particularly if they have to pee and the leash is attached to your stool.  (The chair kind not the poop kind)
2. Paper reinforcements are way better than when we went to school.  Pre-stick them to your hand or something so they are less sticky!
3. If you have a buddy, use your buddy to paint your nails and vice versa.  Don't be a hero and go solo.
*Bonus tip: Don't test this out with dark nail polish and crappy remover :)

NAILED IT!!

Friday's Perfect Pairings

Okay, so I have decided to start something. On Fridays. Its called....

~Friday's Perfect Pairings~

This is probably fueled by my new obsession of Pinterest. Literally I am spending 3-4 hours a day pinning shit and looking at other peoples boards. Luckily most of this time is spent while at the store, also at least its February that I'm doing this in and not like, August. I digress.  So here are some perfect pairings that I am currently IN LOVE with :)

~1~
Guinness chocolate cupcake with Bailey's cream cheese frosting. OMG!
Because seriously? Who the hell wouldn't want 1 of those? I'm just kidding. I would eat 12.

~2~
My Cuppow

DAVIDsTEA: Glitter and Gold.

At the moment, I am sad and disheartened.  It's because we are out of Glitter and Gold.  And we were not planning to order any more tea for two more weeks.  I cannot last that long. I'll die from longing..... sigh....
Oh btw, if anyone wants to order a special tea from DAVIDsTEA with us, check out their site, call us, Facebook us, smoke signal us or just come into the store and let us know whatcha want and we can all save on shipping :)  To make due, I am drinking Luscious Watermelon.  Its really good too, but doesn't have the same visual effect that Glitter does in a clear drinking jar.... Its shiny and sparkly and delicious all at the same time!

So maybe I love plants and tea cups. A lot. The one to the left, I potted up yesterday.  Isn't  it adorable? The cup is vintage bone china from England.  I either got it from my grandparents collection that they brought over by ship when they immigrated to Canada, or from a thrift store.... The plant is Sedum burrito or Donkey Tail.
The plants on the right, I found on Pinterest.

If you want to check out what we are obsessing about on Pinterest, you can follow our Polluted Pixie
boards.

I actually was gonna post more, but totally got sucked into a vortex and cannot pull away!
So Ta Ta for now!!

Super Cute Hair Twist + Curls = Awesome

Mandy and I spend a lot of time perusing the net for entertaining things while at work. Maybe too much time actually, sort of. But because of all this time, we sometimes come across awesome things that we probably should be sharing with you all, instead of just laughing our asses off and then forgetting about it. Well, I mean, occasionally we remember to post a link on Facebook, I like to think we're (eh-hem...Mandy is) getting better at this.

I'm off track.

Last week we found this tutorial. It's old. Years old, doesn't make it any less awesome though.

Initially, we thought it was just a super adorable way, easy, to wear your hair, turns out it's more. It curls your hair like a hot damn. Sweet loose, slightly messy curls. Even mine and my daughters hair, which is virtually uncurl-able, submitted to rings from this technique, minus heat or product. Which, is crazy. My curl dream of the last 30 years has been fulfilled! I'm being dramatic. Weird.

Anyways, Kaid and I curled our hair this weekend, multiple times. It's addictive. And this morning, we discovered that Mandy is rocking the twist as a 'do. She's sorta really stinkin' cute.

Three things that are true:

  1. This takes less than 10 min to do
  2. If the band you use is too tight, you will deform your skull (my forehead is rather lumpy as we speak...)
  3. My hair will look better than yours. Obviously.

(Kaid's sick, that's not her regular face. Well, it sorta is, actually.)

(This chick is adorable, with her awesome curls and accent. In fact, she may make you feel less cute, just sayin'.)  For more video tutorials visit: The Lipstick Diaries

Facebook Giveaway!

Um, you may not remember me, but I once wrote here... like, lots. Sort of. It's been awhile though. Months, actually, I counted.

I'm Lissy.

Hi.

While Mandy is Hooking, rug hooking that is, (she was supposed to be teaching me how, but I took once look at the millions of tiny pieces of yarn and balked) I'm going to blog. Cuz she told me I had to. And I'm an obedient sort of person, kind of.

So guess what. I'm doing a giveaway! All because I missed you! It's just from me!

...Don't tell Mandy I said that though.

The details are pretty simple actually, we're aiming at hitting 300 Facebook "fans". When we hit that number, we're going to do a draw to win this collection of sweet goods!

1-Handmade Chicken Apron
1-Pair Luchador Socks
1-Tin Pocket Box "Mine"
1-"Spirit Abounds" blank card
1-Dirty Girl Handmade soap
2-Packs of gum, "Pocket Maraca" & Te Amo

So, share us with your friends. Convince them to like our Facebook page. When we hit that number we'll do a draw and let you know if you win! (don't worry about being local, we'll mail it to you if you're not)

We are lazy bloggers....

We might be lazy about blogging, but look at us learning new crochet techniques!

This is called the Tunisian Crochet, we learned about it here.  Obvs Lissy's is the better one, because while it's not like I totally suck at everything, she is just WAY better and faster than me :)  We also improvised on the afghan hook, by wrapping an elastic around the end of a regular crochet hook.  If I was gonna do a big project, I would probs try and find the fancy one.

So what we are gonna make is mason jar wraps.  Why, you ask, would we need wraps for mason jars?  Well, we have found, (thanks to Kim) a great little company from Massachusetts called Cuppow. They are a two person operation, that had a awesome idea that sprang into a business with unlimited potential!  Especially with us hippy kid generation.....

Look it how fast she is!!

So yeah, the Cuppow's are currently on route and we will update when they arrive!!

xoxo
Mandy

Ps. The the buttons are made by Scientific Culture which we sell in store for $2!
