Now Hiring

Today is one of those day......first, I'm tired....I was up at 2am with my youngest, who was barfing from eating too much sugar at a birthday party, then trying to get to sleep on the couch with her, just in case she puked again (closer to the bathroom), after an hour of trying to sleep and no more puking I decided to go back to my own bed and with in 5 mins she was crawling into bed with me, by this time it's 4 am and I'm exhausted. Today is also my one day home to get my house back to living standards, my hubby was home for a week, and we were mostly in and out for the week, so cleaning is generally last on our list of things to do. I have to work for the next 2 days. Then we are off to Victoria for a few days, I have a close friend getting married and some back to school shopping to finish. So, I have today to do laundry, clean the house and get organized for our trip.....and here I sit, on the computer avoiding it all.........

Ok....time for me to get to work....it'll be dinner in no time, and I'll have that to add to my list too!

Mother Mother!!!!!!

Living on Quadra you can't help but be proud of these guys, they are all amazingly talented people, Ryan & Molly grow up here on Quadra....so us Islanders think of them as a local band, though they create their unique sound in Vancouver. They tour all over Canada, USA, and the UK. They are in the recording studio recording songs for their new album.....can't wait for that, I'm sure it will be just as amazing as the last 2 albums. You can check them out on their site http://mothermothersite.com/  or their myspace page http://www.myspace.com/mothermotherspace

Cherpumple: Have You Made One?

Ok, so in my morning internet routine, I came across this video. I'm sure a lot of you people that peruse craft blogs have already experienced this awesomeness, but it was the first time I've seen it.

Charles Phoenix just made my morning. He does this wobbly dance at around the 10 second mark, that I may have done myself once or twice. And his voice kills me. I'd like him to answer my phone for me.

"So Good..." (1:57 mark) This man is genius. Kills me.

I can't say that I'm ever going to make one of these, did you hear the thunk it made when he flopped the layers on the cake pan? talk about stomachache. But it's cool. And the ovens are to die for. I think I like the forest green one best, but it's pretty hard to choose. Pink is my favorite colour, so I feel a little like I'm cheating on her when I opt for other colours instead.

Someone should probably make the pumkin layer, so that I can have a bite...

Car Music

Dance music, for whatever reason, is more palatable in the car. Not entirely sure why, probably because of the energy factor, also, the sing-a-long factor. So, this week we are giving you a very short Car Music Playlist.

Go ahead, listen to it in the car.

You will sing and bop along to it. You won't be able to help it, and you know you'll be looking like a tard the whole time. I think that is awesome, you looking like a tard, so please, do it. Maybe even record it so that I can see and laugh...

PS. It's Friday the 13th... is that a good day or a bad day for you?

Guilt-free Icecream!!!!

Did you know (#1) that I LOVE DQ's Reeses Pieces Blizzards? Kim and I have been known to pop in for a quick Blizzard snack while shopping in Campbell River (since we don't have one on Quadra) now and again. Ok, we get onion rings too. We share though, so that there is no overindulgence, since Kim cares about such things. It usually goes like this:

"We'd like one Reese's Pieces Blizzard and one onion rings, please." I order without making eye contact with the worker. Never do, not sure why.
"What size Blizzard?"
"Well, we're sharing... What size, Kim?" I know as I turn to her that asking her is a mistake, but I can't take it back.
"I don't know, a small?
Gah! I Knew it! "A small? Really? Fine. We'll get a small one, please," I say grudgingly.
"And what size onion rings?"
"Ummm..." I think of what Kim's going to want, I am a really good friend after all, "A small..." I can't stick to it though, "No, that's not enough. A small's not enough, Kim." I try to make her understand.
And she does.
"No, a small is not enough. We'd better get a basket..."
This is why she's my best friend.

(Lesson of the Day: Sharing = Guilt-free.  Regardless of the quantity)

Did you know (#2) that today, in Canada, it's Dairy Queen's Miracle Treat Day? The day that they give $1 or more, from every Blizzard sale, to your local Children's Hospital. I figure that if you're eating icecream for charity, then it's not only guiltfree, it's something to be proud of, right?

OK, to be honest, I don't ever feel guilty about eating icecream. I can eat it for breakfast with a clear conscience. I can eat it for all three, breakfast, lunch and dinner, without a twinge (well, there'd be a twinge in my stomach, since me and lactose aren't actually supposed to tango, but really, life with no icecream or chocolate is sad. I've lived it, I know. I won't do it anymore). For those of you, however, that do feel bad about such things as calories and sugar intake, today is your day to indulge.

Eat a DQ Blizzard, eat two.
Eat one for me and one for you.

And then go brag about it.

08-09-10

I know I don't have to tell you what day it is today, but did you notice it's a cool date....08-09-10!

I'm feeling a little blah today....I'm having water issues at home, it's either a pump issue or no water, I'm waiting patiently for someone to tell me the problem or ship some water to me. Hopefully today I get some answers!

I think I need some of these today!!

Also today, I've got a brand new video for you, with a harsh topic, but it's a good song and video. It is Eminem ft. Rihanna - Love the way you lie. Megan Fox and Lost's Dominic Monaghan star in the story about a troubled couple in a volatile relationship. Megan reportedly donated her fee for the video to Sojourn, an LA shelter for battered women and their families. This video is already making headlines, Eminem is said to have wanted to make something important and thought-provoking. Let me know what you think........

Long > Short

Do you say "Lumos" before flipping a light switch?

When confronted with a broken phonebooth, do you pick up the receiver and say "Ministry of Magic please." ?

Well, if you do, you're more of a Harry Potter fanatic then I am, but I do love the books and movies. Also, I love Emma Watson. I'm pretty sure I want to be her when I grow up.

I mean really, she's smart, she's beautiful, she's artistic, and while other actresses her age, that have been in the industry since childhood, are obsessed with proclaiming themselves "women" in obscene ways, she's just naturally do it.

This morning I came across a newer picture of her, she's cut her hair.

Now, I am a fan of short hair on females. I, myself, sport the short most of the time. However, I'm not sure that I love the Ems with this hair.

It's alright, I guess, but all I really see when I look at this picture is...

Yeah... Twiggy.

Maybe the hair will grow on me. If not it'll definitely grow on her. (hahahaha!Ok, sorry. That was really bad.)
