Thoughts

I'm sitting here, on the ferry going home, thinking thinking thinking. Not unlike a friend of mine

I've just come from the hospital where I got an ultrasound on my right breast. A bit ago I found a lump. I was told from the beginning, by both my family doctor and then my surgeon, that it was most likely nothing to be concerned about. Nevertheless, an ultrasound was booked, just to be on the safe side. Well, today I was informed, that it's definitely nothing to worry about.

A relief right?

Right. But now, here I am, like I said, sitting on the ferry, thinking. There is nothing like knowing that there is something potentially fatal in your body to make you ponder your life. Or rather, nothing like dodging a bullet to make you think.

What if it was a tumor? What if I was sick?

I'll tell you this, if I was dying, there would be a lot I would want to change about my life in a short amount of time. So what does that say about my life now? Why is it that it would take me actually being sick before I would "man up" and start to change things? Do you know what that says to me? Laziness (which is not a surprise to anyone, really, is it.) and a lack of resolve. No ambition, no focus.

I'm a dreamer with no Follow-Through. That's honestly something that I've known about myself for a long time, a very long time, maybe I've even mentioned it before. I'd like to change that... but the laziness always interferes.

Here's the sad thing: Even though I've been slapped in the face with the jizzed in sock of reality, there is a 95% chance that I won't change... Oh who am I kidding? A 99% change. Because I'm nothing if not a stubborn Ass.

Today, I'm wishing I had a little more of my SIL's fortitude. Now there is an amazingly strong woman who does what needs to be done. Everyone could do with a little of Lisa's strength.

Wow, that really was a "Dear Diary," moment, wasn't it?

Now, after those rather dreary thoughts, here's a couple of good points to my day:

  • I actually was in and out of my ultrasound appointment today before my appointment was scheduled to even begin. (I'm sure all of you realize the sheer amazing-ness of that when it comes to appointments at a hospital.) Thus, I was able to be on an earlier ferry, arriving home a full hour than anticipated.
  • I got my very first holiday coffee from Starbuck. A Peppermint Mocha in a festive red cup. Let the holiday's begin.

TaaDaa!!!

Well, we have been working long and hard hours on creating a new look for our blog (Lissy mostly cause she is a computer genius).....we were both starting to get bored of our old look, so we thought if we were bored of it, you might be too......so here it is!!!!

What do you think?? Hope you like it!!

****UPDATE**** If you've previously grabbed a button from us, you'll need to grab it again. Unfortunately our old one suffered a few dents and bruises from the move and needed to go to the Doctor for some stitches.

Also, Kim: I like it when you call me a genius... say it again.

Movember

I should have posted this last week...sorry, better late then never!

The Mo, slang for moustache, and November come together each year for Movember.

Movember challenges men to change their appearance and the face of men’s health by growing a moustache. The rules are simple, start Movember 1st clean-shaven and then grow a moustache for the entire month.  The moustache becomes the ribbon for men’s health, the means by which awareness and funds are raised for prostate cancer.  Much like the commitment to run or walk for charity, the men of Movember commit to growing a moustache for 30 days.

If you would like to join the global movement that is changing the face of men's health, sign up for Movember.

It's not to late to register....or just give a donation!!!!

Just a Thought.....

This is something I always try and teach my kids....( not the bitch part tho)!

Halloween is for Grown Ups too

As I mentioned earlier Kim and I went out on Friday and I wasn't really feeling it, but I sucked it up and we had a good time. For months we've been discussing our Sugar Skull/ Day of the Dead costumes, so it was slightly surprising to find that when it was time to do it, we were both slightly hesitant. We both felt we needed to watch a Youtube tutorial before diving in, so we did, and then we did... dive in I mean... in to the make up.

And you know what? We won a prize at the dance for our efforts. Well, of course we did, I mean really....

They may have been congratulating us on winning, but we were congratulating them too, for finally publicly recognizing our awesomeness. Took them long enough.

How was you're Grown Up Halloween?

H&B's
Lissy

When we originally thought about how long it would take us to do our make up, we kind of thought a half hour each, but it was more like 1-1.5 hrs each....I think maybe if we had done a trial run, we could have done it quicker....but we were discussing what we were going to do next as we did it.

We showed up fashionable late, but not too late. It was a fun night, I loved seeing everyone's costumes.
Yes, we won for our costumes which was really great, but have to say that everyone looked fabulous!!!!!

XO~

A few of our observations/questions from the night:

  • L --You may think that you need to take care not to take out that 80 year old woman you're dancing beside, but you're wrong. You need to take care that she doesn't take you out.
  • L-- How do you pee when you're encased in a cardboard Lighthouse costume?
  • L-- A lot of people in our community dance with their eyes closed. Have you seen someone dance with their eyes closed? They tend to be the ones that are REALLY into the music.
  • L-- People that dance with their eyes closed kick and hit a lot of people.
  • K-- It's a little strange when people get right up in your face trying to figure out who you are.
  • K-- It's really hard to drink from a bottle when you don't want to mess up your make up on your mouth.
  • K-- There aren't straws long enough for bottles.
  • K-- Loves seeing a grown man do the ninja walk all night long!!

And Let Halloween Be Over ... I Mean... Begin.

Are you excited for Halloween?

I'm not. As usual, I got excited for a holiday too early and by the time the actual day has rolled around, I'm over it.

Yeah, I'm over it.

But me being me, I'll suck it up and do what has to be done. Like tonight, there is a dance that Kim and I are going to. We've being planning our costumes for it for, I don't know, months? I don't feel like going, and I have a feeling Kim doesn't either. We've been thinking about it for too long, now that the day has rolled around, we'd both just rather stay in our comfy clothes, watch Halloween TV and gorge on junk food (Kay, so now I'm talking for Kim, and deciding the way she should feel. Actually, I don't think this is unusual. Nevermind.) We'll go though, you know why? Because we're troopers. We said we'd go, so we'll go. The End.

So what are you doing this Halloween Weekend? Anything fun planned?

Get a playlist! Standalone player Get Ringtones

Ummm Lissy....as I'm putting up our playlist, I'm reading your post, and....I want to go, I enjoy dressing up and dancing to a great band (Lissy: Ummm... no Kim, you don't feel like going, do you know why? Because I said so. You are also going to have an extra awesome time tonight... because I said so.) Yes, I love my comfy clothes but like you I am in them more often then I should be.....we'll have a great night and you know it!!
Hurry up and get over here I'm ready to drink and put our make up on....but nope...mom duties first, make dinner for the kids and make sure everyone is happy before I go....maybe just one drink while I do that!

xo kim

Have a great Halloween weekend everyone!
