Surf Culture

So.....I have a bit of a fascination with the surf culture.....fashion, people, laid back lifestyle, water, beach, tans, surfers, surf boards, movies, music, locations, you name it I love it! Yet, I don't surf. My husband has done it a few times (whenever we go to Tofino) but there is really nowhere around here to do it. He is one of those people that gets on a surf board and can stand up first try. We both have always said if we could live on a beach and surf our lives away....we would or at least 6 months out of a year! Though we do snowboard and snowboarding and surfing are very similar in their cultures....just opposite seasons, so maybe that's part of the reason why we are so attracted to the surf culture.

My husband has had this 6ft x 4ft cloth poster thingy of The Endless Summer since he was a teenager, we still have it and it hangs on our wall. It looks like this....I'm sure you remember this movie.....

We (as a family) really enjoy surf movies too......here are some of our favs!

Riding Gaints:

Step Into Liquid:

The Drifter:

Next week we are heading to Victoria for a few days and while we are there we are going to the Imax theater and we are going to watch The Ultimate Wave Tahiti....should be good!

I think this is one of my largest posts (sorry, I just had so much to share with you guys). Sometimes I can ramble on and on, especially about things I love. Are there any culture that you love or are fascinated with? Tell me...I'd love to hear about them!

I haven't heard of a single one of those movies, Kim. Not even the one that you have a poster for in your house. Actually, I don't think I even realized that was a movie poster...

You know what surf movie I loved as a kid? Back to the Beach. Doesn't get much better than Peewee Herman singing Bird is the Word from atop a surf board.
